From the field to the tea tray
Sandry Law first encountered this linen in a small workshop outside Lijiang, Yunnan, where artisans weave on wooden floor looms using locally grown flax. The raw fabric carries the scent of sun‑bleached fields and the quiet rhythm of handwork — exactly what he wanted for the THETEA uniform line.
As Head of Procurement, Sandry visited the workshop three times before placing an order. He examined each bolt for fibre density, checked the selvage for irregular tensions, and washed sample cuts repeatedly to simulate months of tea service. Only lots that kept their shape, softened without pilling, and dried quickly in the humid air of a gongfu studio passed his quality checks.
The result is a sleeve protector that feels rooted — not starched or over‑finished. Its unbleached colour hides tea stains gracefully, and the drawstring cuff adapts to different shirt sleeves. Back in Kunming, team members now pull on a pair before the kettle boils, knowing the linen will outlast the season.
